I bought a tracfone several years ago and had excellent use from it. When the battery died I elected to upgrade and bought another tracfone.

I got my number, minutes and days and days transferred to it. Unfortunately it had problems and I had to take it back and swap it out for another phone. I called when I got home and, if I understood the service person correctly (his accent was somewhat strong), the transfer was made without problem. Later that day when I tried to use the phone I got a recording that the call could only be placed if charged to my credit card.

I hung up and called Tracfone again. This time I was told that my number had been deactivated and turned in. To get the phone to work I will have to get a new number (I got all my text messages on it). I also lost my minutes (about 6,800) and my days (about 220).

According to tracfone there is nothing they can do to retrieve my number, days or minutes. A reasonable person would think that this information could be retrieved from their system, especially since 8 hours had not passed from when I got the replacement phone to when I was told It had all been hopelessly lost.

Right now I don't know if I want anything more to do with tracfone. If I have to start over maybe it would be better to start over elsewhere.

Monetary Loss: $900.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

TracFone Pros: Prior service was excellent.

TracFone Cons: Losing my number, Days and minutes.
