TracFone new phone return policy does not cover shipping back or unused minutes
New Tracfone and old tracfone now do not work as old was deactivated to activate new! but new was defective.
After spending 7 hours on a human-less customer service center in Manila, and finally getting thru to humans, issue could not be solved so I requested to a) reactivated old tracfone which was working, b) refund defective new tracfone LG840 G which did not pick up service in same area as old, and refund for 200-minute card purchased. To get refund, I must mail back new but they do not cover shipping costs for their defective phone!
Also they were incapable of deactivating old cell phone and must send me a new SIM card within 5 business days - five days without a phone on a business trip in a snowstorm....while business lost would be in the $5000 range as clients would be unable to reach me. Tracfone, never again, return policy unfair and flawed, human-less automated customer service system frustrating, Filipino customer service reps unable to understand American cell phone issues

I completely sympathize with this poster's horrible experience, I went through the exact same thing with TracFone! I received refurbished phones that did not work, and after days of trying to get the issue resolved they told me they will refund me IF I pay to send the defective phones back to them.
I find that unethical, that is not how we do business in America!
And the peel-off "Return Label" they initially told me to use (and they told me I would not be charged for return shipping) was bar-coded and the boxes simply came right back to my house! TracFone definitely needs to improve their Customer Service, especially concerning Returns / Refunds on their items that do not work.
They will tell you they are sending you a new phone when yours dies, but then send you an empty box telling you, that you have to return the old before they will send the new. Then you never get the new one and you are out of service for days and days if not weeks.
They had rather lie than tell the truth.
Go somewhere else. OK unless you ever have a problem; then you are sunk.
Same problem. Purchased LG440G that did not work.
Giant Eagle grocery where purchased would not accept return. Shipping to tracfone costs more than phone is worth.
