Tracphone no longer supports 2g, so your old phone is either deactivated, or you get a message to call customer support when you try to add minutes. What ensues is customer service ***. They claim they will send you a free phone, but the process is so convoluted its ridiculous. (Name, mailing address and the phone # should suffice, right?) I had to hang up and go to work after 20 minutes and no confirmation of receiving a new phone. After buying a new upgraded phone and transferring minutes/texts/data from my old number, my online balances were higher than I expected. On the website however it read phone pending activation, though I was already using it. I checked my balance yesterday before buying a data card. It was very much lower. I bought the data card, went to the website and entered the pin. Phone status was still pending. I went to my account on my phone and got invalid pin and pending transaction. Welcome to Alaska! I realize your post is moldy & crusty & you did get hosed by tracfone. It's funny how these companies change their tune once they get flamed on this website. Hopefully other Veterans & folks do research before signing on the dotted line. Thank you for your service to our Country & hope you come to love our great state. bought phone activated-worked most of the first airtime card-then the phone started shutting off in the middle of call. Had to contact Tracfone each time to reactivate. This happened about four times in a row. Always losing my minutes & activation date. Finally they suggested a replacement phone. Called for four days straight to activate. Have my tracfone for 8 yrs - no problem til i tried to renew my minutes (every 3 months) on 04/07/16 two phones. Wouldnt take card #, kept messaging error @ company, try again. Tried for 2 days. Called service # on 04/09/16 was told upgrading services from 2g to 3g took all my info & said would send me new phones 9-11 days. O4/22/16 still no phones. A couple of weeks ago I received a text message from Tracphone saying service change in your area contact them at 1-866-667-6437, which I did. Prior to this, I had recently been having trouble with my "flip phone" getting antenna link indication. So, when I called them and they explained that due to equipment updates, my "old phone" was not compatible with their new system. They told me they would ship me a new phone in 5-11 days!
